Spiritual Overwhelm? 5 Tips to Embrace your Sensitivity

I've always been highly sensitive, and throughout my spiritual awakening, this sensitivity has increased even more. While connecting with nature and people on a deep, energetic level is an incredible gift, it can sometimes get overwhelming.

And so I ask myself, why do we become more sensitive in our spiritual awakening? The insight that arises is that in our spiritual transformation, this sensitivity often intensifies because of the expansion of our energy field, thereby expanding awareness. Imagine blowing up a balloon; the bigger the balloon gets, the more surface it has and the more air it holds. That's how our awareness operates; when we go through our spiritual awakening, we expand energetically and begin to perceive more information from ourselves and our environment. We feel more complex and deep emotions, sensations, and feelings - ours and those of others.

Establish Boundaries

As our sensitivity increases, we need to establish new personal boundaries. What may have worked in the past might not work anymore. So, it is always good to check in with yourself.

To establish personal boundaries, you can reduce the time you spend in crowded and chaotic environments that heighten feelings of overwhelm. Also, saying no is essential for creating boundaries. I know it can be challenging to say no; guilt often kicks in when we put ourselves first. However, declining social invitations or activities that drain your energy is not only okay but essential for your well-being!

Grounding Techniques

Grounding practices can help you reconnect with your body and the present moment. When you feel overwhelmed, focus on your breath. Breathing in slowly for a few minutes helps to calm your nervous system. I love breathwork; it is so effective! Also, nature walks are an absolute must! Spend time outside, feel the Earth beneath your feet, and observe your surroundings. Nature's energy field is always in balance and harmony. By spending time in nature, away from the chaotic city, our human energy field synchronises with nature's harmony, and we experience inner peace and calmness.

Be Kind to Yourself

We are often very critical of ourselves. I'm here to remind you that feeling overwhelmed is a natural part of the awakening process. Use positive affirmations to embrace your sensitivity and write about your feelings and experiences. Journaling is a big part of my life now, and it has helped me so much in processing my emotions without judgment.

Your Home, Your Temple

My home is my sacred space, where I feel safe and relaxed. If you don't feel your home is your temple, I recommend using calming decor and soothing colours. It is also good to do an energetic cleanse occasionally by letting go of items you no longer need or that no longer bring you joy. Remove clutter or any items that feel overstimulating.

Explore Creative Outlets

Expressing myself through art, music, and writing is a non-negotiable part of my life. I could not live without my creative expression. It is therapeutic and allows me to tap into the higher realms. Do you have creative outlets? Maybe you like to paint or write? Explore your creativity to find out how this impacts your well-being.

And these are my five tips for embracing your sensitivity to find inner peace within your spiritual awakening.

Remember, by giving yourself grace, space, and time to embrace your sensitivity, it will flourish into deep awareness, which comes with many beautiful gifts, such as profound insight, creativity, and intuition.

Much love,
Sky xx
